งานวิจัยนี้ เป็นการวิจัยภาวะผู้นำสมเด็จพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราชกับภาวะผู้นำตามหลักพุทธธรรม เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ คือ 1) เพื่อศึกษาประวัติศาสตร์การเสด็จเมืองจันทบุรีของสมเด็จพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราช 2) เพื่อศึกษาบทบาทภาวะผู้นำของสมเด็จพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราช ตามหลักพุทธธรรม จากการศึกษาพบว่า 1. การเสด็จเมืองจันทบุรีของสมเด็จพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราช เป็นการเสด็จมาเพื่อเตรียมการเพื่อกอบกู้เอกราชคืนจากพม่า โดยการเสด็จออกมาจากกรุงศรีอยุธยาด้วยความยากลำบาก มาตามเส้นทางฝั่งตะวันออก ตามลำดับ คือ กรุงศรีอยุธยา นครนายก ปราจีนบุรี ฉะเชิงเทรา ชลบุรี ระยอง จันทบุรี ตราด และกลับมาจันทบุรีอีกครั้ง เพื่อเป็นการรวมไพร่พลครั้งสุดท้าย เพื่อขึ้นไปตีกรุงศรีอยุธยา กอบกู้เอกราชให้กับชาวไทย แม้การอยู่จันทบุรีไม่นานนัก แต่จันทบุรีก็ขึ้นชื่อว่าเป็นเมืองประวัติศาสตร์ที่คนทั่วไปต้องกล่าวถึง เมื่อเอ่ยนามสมเด็จพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราช ก็ต้องนึกถึงเมืองจันทบุรีทุกครั้งไป 2. บทบาทภาวะผู้นำของสมเด็จพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราช เมื่อกรุงศรีอยุธยากำลังจะแตก พระองค์ก็เริ่มแสดงภาวะผู้นำด้วยการมองกาลไกล ถึงความหายนะของกรุงศรีอยุธยา จึงได้รวมไพร่พล ตีฝ่าวงล้อมออกมา อีกทั้งพระองค์ได้ทรงแสดงความเป็นผู้นำโดยการปกครองผู้คนในขณะนั้น ให้อยู่ในระเบียบวินัย กล้าหาญ โดยการใช้หลักสัปปุริสธรรม ในการปกครองผู้คนในขณะนั้น แม้จะเผชิญกับสถานการณ์ และสิ่งแวดล้อมต่างๆมากมาย ด้วยความเป็นผู้นำและหลักธรรมทางพระพุทธศาสนาที่พระองค์ทรงยึดถือและปฏิบัติ จึงทำให้พระองค์ประสบความสำเร็จในกาลต่อมา ความเป็นผู้นำของสมเด็จพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราช แม้จะผ่านมานานแล้ว เป็นเรื่องราวประวัติศาสตร์ที่คนไทย โดยเฉพาะชาวจันทบุรี ไม่เคยลืมด้วยความเป็นพระมหากษัตริย์ที่ทรงธรรม และกล้าหาญ ทำให้ประชาชนชาวไทยต่างก็นำแบบอย่างความเป็นผู้นำของท่านประประยุกต์ใช้ ในด้านการดำรงชีวิต ในด้านการทำงาน และอื่นๆ อีกมากมาย

He also showed leadership by dominating the people at that time to live in courageous discipline by using Buddhism to rule people at the moment with the leadership and the principles of Buddhism, he took and practiced so he succeeded in later times. This research is a study of the leadership of King Taksin the Great and the leadership of Buddhism.
